Barnsley House & Spa
17th-century Barnsley House is built of locally quarried Cotswold stone. Symmetrical, simple yet beautiful, it faces south-east, so has the full benefit of the rising sun. A lovely 4.5 acre Arts and Crafts style garden by Rosemary Verey surrounds the manor house making this a perfect example of the English country house and garden.
The rooms are individual, with a character of their own. The interior style is elegant, with a definite sense of fun. The ultra-cool modern furniture doesn't seem remotely out of place and the spa-enhanced boutique hotel is set in beautiful countryside, less than two hours from London.
The new contemporary spa, built using local natural stone, features Cotswold Stone floors, dry stone interior walls, floor to ceiling glass and English hardwoods. There is also an open fireplace and views across rural Gloucestershire countryside.
