Set in the beautiful West Sussex countryside on the edge of the timbered buildings of Midhurst, Cowdray House and Ancient Monument offers a unique window into England’s tumultuous past.
Being at once historic, dramatic, educational, and romantic, Cowdray makes for an atmospheric filming or photographic location. From the inspiring causeway approach, eerie cellars, and the towering ruins of The Great Hall and Chapel vaulted with elaborate windows, Cowdray casts an enticing historical shadow over its surrounding countryside.
Despite being partially ruined by fire in 1793, Cowdray House still contains a complete working Tudor kitchen. Untouched by modernity, this kitchen is truly authentic to the period and is itself in demand as an educational and filming location.
