Glamis Castle is set in the heart of the Angus Glens. Family home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne since 1372. It was the childhood home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and the birthplace of Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret.
The castle is the legendary setting of Shakespeare's most famous tragedy, "Macbeth". The magnificent rooms offer a wide range of historic paintings, furniture, porcelain and tapestries. Also on view are the Royal apartments used by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and King George VI.
The grounds of Glamis Castle were landscaped about 1800 to a design influenced by the celebrated landscape gardner, Lancelot (Capability) Brown. Features also include Italian Garden, Nature Trail, Pinetum and walled garden.
