Situated in the extreme west of Europe, Portugal has always been an important gateway to the Old Continent and over the centuries has absorbed a variety of cultures and gracefully combined these with its own.
Diversity is the main characteristic throughout Portugal. From architecture to terrain, from blue and green seas to diverse landscapes and vegetation, the country can easily double as almost any location.
Portugal comprises the continental mainland and the beautiful islands of the Azores and Madeira. The Azores is a collection of nine unspoilt islands with stunning blue and green lagoons whilst Madeira is a small multicoloured archipelago with a varied terrain, rich in exotic vegetation and beautiful flowers.
The climate is as warm as the Portuguese hospitality with an average temperature range of 11ºC (52ºF) in winter to 23ºC (74ºF) in summer.
