Kennet is situated in the heart of rural Wiltshire where the gently rolling landscape of the Salisbury Plain, Marlborough Downs and Vale of Pewsey offer many delightful experiences.
Over half of the district has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The scenery varies from rolling chalk downlands to woodlands and the beautiful Kennet and Avon Canal. Ideally located in south west England, Kennet has first class road and rail links with the rest of the country and at its closest point is only one hour car journey from London.
The Marlborough Downs, in the north of this largely undiscovered area are steeped in prehistory, myth and legend. The area has supported communities from the earliest times and there are few places in Europe to rival the monuments and ceremonial landscapes of this part of Wiltshire.
Devizes is a charming medieval market town and was once home to the finest castle in Europe and Marlborough is a town which has a history going back to the earliest legends. Merlin, the magician to King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table is said to be buried here, giving the town its name 'Merle Barrow' or Merlin's Tomb. Both Marlborough and Devizes are ideal locations for filming.
