Renishaw Hall & Gardens
Renishaw Hall has been the home of the Sitwells for four hundred years.
Generations of the family have collected treasures, and there are paintings, furniture, porcelain and majolica, and all manner of other objets d'art.
It is an enormous house, with long corridors and beautiful rooms. It was the home of the famous literary trio, Edith, Osbert and Sacheverell, and the Sergeant painting of the family with their parents Sir George and Lady Ida hangs in the drawing room over the Chippendale commode that features in the painting itself.
There is also the Sitwell Museum and Sitwell Family film, in the converted 18th-century stable block, and this year's exciting exhibition features the costumes and accessories of Dame Edna Everage in the Performing Arts Gallery.
