The Fowey Hotel, Fowey

An award winner in the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2009, The Fowey Hotel (known as 'The Fowey') is renowned for its friendly, relaxed atmosphere, award-winning restaurant and high standards. A fine example of classic Victorian architecture and charm, The Fowey exudes character and warmth, with just the right degree of quirkiness, to provide a warm and ambient environment that provides the perfect accommodation for film crews. The hotel has 37 individually decorated en suite bedrooms, many which offer panoramic views out over the Fowey estuary.

Two particular annual events of note are held annually in Fowey. The hugely popular Daphne DuMaurier Literary Festival takes place each May and features many authors and personalities of note, and the Fowey Royal Regatta in August.

From a filming perspective, the area around Fowey is known for its rolling green hills with fields that come right up to the cliff edges and its famous harbours of Mevagissey and Charlestown, both of which are regularly used for filming. Fowey is also close to ancient towns, such as Lostwithiel, and there are any number of delightful gardens and heritage sites to visit, including the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, China Clay Museum and the English Heritage site of Restormel Castle.
